
About Sunflower Yoga Wales
My yoga journey started in 2014 where I knew I needed a way to release the tension
that we all build up due to everyday life! I tried the gym, swimming, fitness classes - yet
nothing with staying power. I didn’t have high expectations of it, just thought I’d give
it a go. Two months later, that was it, I was hooked!
I practiced Iyengar yoga for 8 years before I started thinking deeper about the
practice and researching why yoga has such a profound affect on my life. Iyengar is the
‘King of Asanas’ as they say and my amazing teacher Thomas taught me how important
alignment is! However, I wanted to explore further the other limbs of yoga so in 2022
I was so fortunate to find Kalavathi Devi, who teacher trained me in Hatha Yoga from
which the teachings come from an authentic ashram in Pondicherry, India.
Even though my training was intense both physically, mentally, emotionally and full of
research about yoga and the eight limbed path, I feel there is so much more to learn
and I will never stop progressing and learning with it.
I now have a strong understanding of both alignment and how to take care of your body
and mind both on and off the mat (yes, yoga can be off the mat, it’s not just physical!)
If I can improve just one person’s life like my teacher did for me all those years ago,
it’s all worth it!
