About Sunflower Yoga Wales

My yoga journey started in 2014 where I knew I needed a way to release the tension that we all build up due to everyday life! I tried the gym, swimming, fitness classes - yetnothing with staying power. I didn’t have high expectations of it, just thought I’d giveit a go. Two months later, that was it, I was hooked!I practiced Iyengar yoga for 8 years before I started thinking deeper about the practice and researching why yoga has such a profound affect on my life.

Iyengar is the‘King of Asanas’ as they say and my amazing teacher Thomas taught me how importantalignment is! However, I wanted to explore further the other limbs of yoga so in 2022I was so fortunate to find Kalavathi Devi, who teacher trained me in Hatha Yoga fromwhich the teachings come from an authentic ashram in Pondicherry, India.

 

Even though my training was intense both physically, mentally, emotionally and full of research about yoga and the eight limbed path, I feel there is so much more to learn and I will never stop progressing and learning with it. I now have a strong understanding of both alignment and how to take care of your bodyand mind both on and off the mat (yes, yoga can be off the mat, it’s not just physical!)

 

If I can improve just one person’s life like my teacher did for me all those years ago,it’s all worth it!

Rachael offered no commitment, drop-in sessions and I thought that it would be worth a go to try to loosen my back and my shoulder and my …… Within one session I felt better physically. After session two I found that I was actually enjoying it and was feeling the mental benefits. I was worried about so much when I started but Rachael made me feel at ease and welcome at every session. I now look forward to the sessions as well the feeling afterwards. It allows me to continue with my sports and activities and also feel better within myself.
